Please have a close look at the detailed pictures and be sure to download the MPEG file in order to see and hear it play. This is one of the smallest bird boxes I have had in a long time. The silver case is only 4 x 2 x 1.5 inch and that is small for an old German singing bird box.. I estimate that it was made around 1920. It has been restored (new bellows) and is in perfect working condition. This box is completely decorated on all 4 sides , top and bottom with flowers, garlands, birds, pigions, cherubs and musical instruments . It really is a lust for the eyes. By activating the stop start knob the lid will jump open and a little bird will appear. It will turn from left to right moving its beak and wings and sing a song with a loud and strong voice After it is finished it will return into the box and the lid will automatically close again. This bird box has several hallmarks besides the number 800 for silver.
