Description
c.1880 Swiss Music Box6-Cylinder Interchangeable With Original Matching Table! This is an exquisite and elegant Swiss music box, made in Geneva c.1880.A few features of this early, rare beauty:13" long x 2.25" diameter cylinders playing operatic and classical airsEach of the 6 cylinders plays 6 songs in "Mandoline" formatOriginal tune card and instructionsOriginal matching table with 2 drawers for cylindersOriginal locks and keyFine burl walnut cabinetry with string and banded inlayOverall dimensions: 41" wide x 27" deep x 38" highThis musical movement and all cylinders of this fine music box were recently fully restored by the Baud Museum in St. Croix, Switzerland; it plays perfectly and looks as-new.The cabinetry is in very fine, original condition and  in my opinion did not merit restoration.  There is a hairline crack in the burl veneer of the tabletop, hardly noticeable (shown in picture).  Otherwise there are no apologies worth mentioning.SHIPPING: After payment by the winning buyer, I will take this to The UPS Store for professional packing and fully insured shipment.  The store will contact the buyer directly for payment of their services. This type of music box, with fine cabinetry and matching table, was most surely a custom order for a wealthy client. This is not one of the later, mass-produced "cartel" boxes.  It will complement the decor of any home, castle or palace! This example is but one of many dozens that I take great pleasure and pride of owning.  You will find cylinder music boxes in my inventory that range from the simplest to the grandest; incorporated in clocks, automatons and many other items that may surprise you; all are a treat and a joy for young and old.  TAKE A LOOK!  PLEASE NOTE: This music box, as are all of my offerings, are not "fix-me-uppers", problematic, or otherwise in need of anything but a new home.  Indeed, my entire house is filled from top to bottom with music boxes, phonographs and clocks, every one of which is in perfect order and enjoyed regularly.  For many years, my musical collection has expanded and tested the space limits of my home and the patience of my long-suffering wife, who occasionally demands space to display items from our other collections.  You can be assured that whatever your purchase, your complete satisfaction is my one and only goal.  All are offered with 100% return privileges as well.
