Description
Probably the most ambitious and certainly one of the most beautiful products from the Halcyon Days company. These two plaques were hand painted by the celebrated artist and illustrator, Graham Rust, and especially created in 1991 for Halcyon Days enamel paintings. These were produced in a limited edition of 25 pairs - all are numbered - and this particular pair is number 18. In the 1991 Halcyon Days catalogue (see the photo), the paitings were described thus: "Graham Rust was born in 1942 and attended art schools in London and New York. He has travelled extensively, at all times gathering material for his watercolours and drawings. His works have been widely exhibited in the UK and at prestigious London and provinicial galleries as well as extensively in the USA and in Panama and Hong Kong. He has written and illustrated several books including his much acclaimed The Painted House and The Secret Garden. His murals and ceiling paintings have brought him international fame and the most spectacular of these, The Temptation at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire took over a decade to complete." In 1991 the cost of the pair was £3,900. In the summer 2008 catalogue, the company listed the last remaining pair at £5,000 (around $7500) - so here we have an opportunity to own a truly fabulous enamel painting at a fraction of the advertised retail price. Size: Each framed plaque measures 10.25 x 8.5 inches (26 x 21.6 cms). Condition: Excellent No chips etc. One of the presentation boxes has had tape affixed and there is minor scuffing to the presentation boxes. The hand painting is wonderful - a real collectors piece. Realistic starting price with no reserve. Would make a fantastic present .... Christmas maybe Post free - insured (anywhere) Any questions, please ask (we love questions) - thanks for looking.
