You are viewing an amazing limited edition statue produced by Lladro depicting Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States. Lladro wanted to pay homage to this great historical figure with this amazing representation issued in 1994. This piece, sculpted by Jose Puche, was hand crafted and hand painted in Spain and is part of a limited edition series numbered #29 of 2500 produced. It was retired this year for 2008. The bottom of the sculpture bares the Lladro hallmark with the blue tulip and is hand signed by the sculptor Puche and the decorator. Measures approximately 9"L x 9.5"W x 21.5"H Retailed $3,000 Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States in 1860 and the country plunged into civil war shortly afterwards. Lincoln succeeded in preserving the Union, winning a hard-fought victory over the southern Confederate states and abolishing slavery. His Gettysburg Address dedicating the war cemetery in 1863 is one of the greatest speeches in U.S. history. Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. Lincoln was assassinated in 1865, the first ever presidential assassination, and became a martyr for national unity. Lladro statue is in MINT CONDITION! Just needs a little cleaning and dusting. It's been on display since purchased. The wooden base has some light surface scratches from displaying.
