The symphonion case is walnut and walnut burl veneered with a carved bird motif on the lid.  The lid lift is decorated with a lion head pull.  There are four corner columns and brass handles left and right sides.  Original to the case is a cherub print in glass on the top lid interior.  It has a glass liner to protect the disc and interior mechanism.  There is a lever in front that cranks to the right to "wind up" the music box and a lever rear left to start disc play and a small lever in front center to pause play.  The dimensions are approx. L 19 1/2" x W 15" x H 8 1/2".  Each disc is 12" diam.  The discs are mainly in german some have french also and a few have english titles.  Some only have a number, no title.  Most of the discs have a numeric circular label in the center.
